Saint John Baptist De La Salle
Sain John Baptist de la Salle was born at Rheims in France in 1651. After ordination to the priesthood, he devoted himself to the education of boys and the founding of schools for the poor. He brought his companions together as a religious congregation, for the sake of which he endured many sufferings. He died at Rouen in 1719.
Father, you chose Saint John Baptist de la Salle to give young people a Christian education. Give your Church teachers who will devote themselves to helping your children grow as Christian men and women. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
